Introduction

What Lumio is and how it helps your products get discovered by AI shopping agents.

Lumio is an AI commerce content platform. It connects to a brand’s product catalog, scores every product for AI readiness, enriches the data that’s holding products back, delivers the results, and measures how AI agents respond — so ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Mode can find, recommend, and keep recommending the catalog.

The problem

AI shopping agents are becoming the way consumers discover products. When someone asks ChatGPT “what’s the best waterproof hiking boot under $200?”, the AI doesn’t browse — it reads the structured data on the page and decides whether the product is worth recommending.

Most ecommerce product data was written for humans browsing category pages. It lacks the attribute density, structured markup, and conversational context that AI agents need to make confident recommendations.

The result: most catalogs are invisible to the fastest-growing discovery channel in ecommerce.

What Lumio does

  1. Sets up the brand profile — Vertical, brand personality, and customer persona become context for every score and enrichment.
  2. Scans the catalog — Reads a sitemap or syncs from Shopify to import products and the JSON-LD structured data on each page.
  3. Scores every product — Evaluates each product across six core AI readiness dimensions and returns an overall 0–100 score. A seventh dimension, brand alignment, joins the mix once a brand profile is set.
  4. Audits structured data with Schema Health — A separate pass over the raw JSON-LD that flags Schema.org issues by severity, no AI tokens consumed.
  5. Enriches weak products — Generates optimized titles, descriptions, Q&A pairs, usage scenarios, and category attributes — shaped by the workspace voice rules.
  6. Delivers enriched content — Pushes enrichments to Shopify metafields. A theme extension renders them as JSON-LD on product pages, merged with live Shopify data at render time.
  7. Analyzes AI traffic — Connects to Google Analytics 4 and separates agent-driven sessions from human visits, attributing traffic to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, and other AI assistants, down to the product level.
  8. Benchmarks brand visibility — Runs brand-free shopping prompts against ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini, then measures how often each model recommends the brand versus the competitors that surface alongside it.

Who Lumio is for

Lumio is built for brands that sell physical products online and want to stay ahead of the shift to AI-powered shopping. Shopify gets the deepest integration today — catalog sync, metafield push, and a theme extension. Sites on other platforms can still use Lumio via sitemap scanning, the same data path AI agents take.

How it works alongside existing tools

Lumio sits upstream of feed managers and schema apps. It doesn’t replace them — it makes the data they distribute worth distributing.

Feed managers move data. Schema apps format it. Lumio fixes and enriches it.

Long-running operations (scanning, scoring, enrichment) run as background jobs. Only one job runs per workspace at a time. Scoring and enrichment email the brand when they finish, so there’s no need to keep the page open — scan progress shows in the Jobs view.
